Associate Degree of Arts in Foreign Language Specialization

An Associate Degree of Arts in Foreign Language Specialization provides students with a theoretical and practical understanding of second language acquisition, as well as teaching methodologies and resources. Students will study how to tackle cross-cultural and cross-linguistic challenges that arise in both oral and written communication, as well as the syntax and phonology of the world's major languages.

This degree is provided by the Department of Foreign Languages.

Academic Information

The Associate of Arts in English is an academic program taken at the undergraduate level designed to equip students with basic technical and academic knowledge and transferable skills they need to go on to employment or further study in their chosen field in bachelor degree.

Course Organization

The Associate Degree provides a scaffolder series of Foreign Language Courses. It also includes media studies classes to create an interdisciplinary degree that prepares students for work in media and communications organizations, as well as other communication-related business positions. Given the importance of learning team skills in the real world, many courses include team exercises. Courses can be taken online or in person.

LEARNING METHODS

The Associate Degree curriculum focuses on a variety of media. There is a considerable emphasis on how media and communications operate in the modern corporate world. Lectures and class discussions.
